Invitation to participate in MA Dissertation research
An MA dissertation student is conducting research investigating teachers’ perceptions and practices regarding the influence of online tools on autonomous motivation in adult refugees. She is inviting teachers who have experience teaching English to adult refugees using online tools to participate in this study.
Online Tools and Motivation in Adult Refugee Language Learning:
Teachers’ Experiences
I would like to invite you to take part in a research study. Before you decide whether
to participate, it is important for you to understand why the research is being
conducted and what it will involve. Please take time to read the following
information carefully. Please feel free to ask if anything is unclear or request more
information.
What is the purpose of the study?
The study is about teachers’ practices and perspectives on how online tools influence
the motivation of adult refugee learners. Existing research suggests that through
online tools can support motivation promoting autonomy and communication.
However, some studies posit that online tools may have a negative effect on
motivation levels, even discouraging refugees from the learning process.
I would like to interview teachers since they are the ones who make decisions
regarding the tools used in their classrooms. Also, teachers spend a considerable
amount of time alongside their students, interacting with them on a day-to-day basis.
Their observations may provide valuable insights for the present research.
