Fun website for making an Avatar – great to use for online teaching or to get learners to make their own.

A set of picture-focused stories for people who may struggle to read words. Every story is co-created with people with lived experience and trialled by people with learning disabilities. Resources are available at a small cost. The format of these materials with a focus on simple language, makes them suitable for pre-Entry ESOL.

ELT Well brings together best practice from the fields of English language teaching and support for neurodivergent learners e.g. dyslexic learners. There are free resources but also some which have a cost.

A resource for tutors of learners with no or low English

The Skills for Life Network have made Gatehouse Books for Pre-Entry level literacy available for a fee. There are other free resources on the site, including the Adult Pre-Entry Curriculum Framework for Literacy and Numeracy.

Adult ESOL, maths and English resources. From beginner and Entry Level to Level 2

The ESOL Literacies National 2 Learning Support Materials provide a wide range of activities across a number of topics relevant to learners in personal, social and transactional contexts.

Free ESOL worksheets for independent learning in prisons and community settings. If you are delivering ESOL classes or have contact with ESOL learners in prison settings, you can share these resources with your learners. Free printable resources at different ESOL levels, downloadable once you register on the Bell Foundation website.
