Chilypep Sheffield is looking for an energetic, compassionate and experienced Project Worker with knowledge of the UK asylum system to lead on delivering Chilypep’s support to young refugees and asylum seekers, and help to make a real change to the life chances of young people seeking asylum.
Working alongside the Project Coordinator and Project Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting young asylum seekers aged 14-25 through both group work and 1:1 support. You will help young people to build social groups, reduce isolation, and access a range of social, emotional, and practical support while they navigate the complex and challenging processes of the UK asylum system.
You will be responsible for maintaining Happy Group, Chilypep’s weekly youth group for young refugees and asylum seekers, focusing on those in care and/or age disputed in adult accommodation. You will also maintain the project’s support for adults in adult accommodation, making weekly visits to the main asylum hotel and delivering a mix of 1:1 casework and group support.
This role includes regular evening work, an annual 3 day residential, and occasional trips/excursions.

Job Description:

Salary scale: Chilypep Scale 6 Point 22: (£30,105.99) to Point 24: (£31,884.86) as of 1st April 2023
Hours of work: 30-37 hours per week [FTE 37- working hours negotiable]
Pension: 8% employer contribution
Leave entitlement: 38 days leave, including bank holidays (pro rata)
Place of work: 11 Southey Hill, Sheffield S5 8BB (Hybrid working permitted, sessions delivered at various locations across Sheffield).
Duration: Role funded until July 2026
