On Tuesday 30th April, I went to Bradford College to talk to some CertTESOL trainees who are coming to the end of their course.

Yesterday I was invited by Cathy Clarkson to go to Bradford College and meet the current cohort of CertTesol trainees. They are about to finish their course and gain their teaching qualifications, so thoughts are turning to finding work in the area. Most of the group told me that they want to work in ESOL, which was great to hear.

With their future ESOL careers in mind, we looked at the LEYH website and talked about how learners can use it to find classes. They were pleasantly surprised to find out that there are 35 providers of ESOL classes in the Bradford area – more than they expected!

We then moved on to Learning English Plus, which is the sister site to LEYH, and aimed at ESOL tutors and providers. They can use it to find out about training and CPD opportunities in the region, as well as events, conferences, job opportunities and other news in the Staffroom.

Finally, they looked at the Resources Hub, and explored some of the locally referenced resources that MESH have developed for tutors to use in their classes.

It was lovely to meet a group of people who are getting ready to go out and use their new teaching skills to ESOL in the region!
