Here is the newly released UN Women report, Beyond the Breaking Point, which highlights the profound impact of ongoing aid cuts on women-led and women’s rights organizations operating in humanitarian and conflict-affected settings.

Drawing on responses from 855 predominantly local and national women-led and women's rights organizations operating across 52 countries and contexts, the report presents a concerning picture of growing needs alongside shrinking resources.

Key findings:

•        At least one million women and girls have lost access to critical support and services since January 2025.

•        Nearly nine in ten organizations report they can no longer meet existing demand.

•        Two in five organizations expect to suspend or cease operations within the next year if current funding trends continue.

•        Women-led organizations are reporting increased poverty, rising gender-based violence, deteriorating mental health, and growing barriers to education among the communities they serve.

•        Services in remote and hard-to-reach areas are being reduced or discontinued, leaving some of the most vulnerable women and girls without support.

The report underscores the indispensable role that women-led organizations play as first responders and trusted partners in humanitarian action. It also highlights the urgent need for sustained and flexible funding to ensure that life-saving services, protection mechanisms, and pathways to recovery remain available to women and girls affected by crisis.

We encourage you to read the full report and share its findings across your networks. The evidence serves as an important call to action for governments, donors, humanitarian actors, and development partners to invest in local women-led organizations and safeguard the critical services they provide.
