Free ‘Working with Migrant Communities’ Course
Do you support people from migrant communities?
Do you work with people who are economic migrants, seeking asylum, refugees, undocumented, or others who have migrated to the UK?
If so, this training course offers a timely opportunity for clinical, non-clinical, administrative, or management staff working with children, young people, families, or adults, to reflect on their practices, share experiences, and develop strategies to support members of diverse migrant communities.
The course is based on collaborative research with migrant families and health and social care practitioners. Members of migrant communities told our University of Sheffield-based research team about the challenges they face when accessing services that they need. Practitioners also told us about some of the practice barriers that they themselves face. This co-produced 2-day course (with lunch provided), is based on four common practice issues that emerged from our research, and considers the strategies and tools identified by migrant communities and practitioners.
