The Literacies and Language Research Cluster in the School of Education at the University of Sheffield is really excited to share details of the International Sheffield Literacies and Language Conference which takes place on Friday June 16th and Saturday June 17th. It is a partnership between Sheffield Hallam University and the University of Sheffield with great keynotes, workshops, parallel sessions, and PGR Prizes. The conference theme is ‘Forging Hopeful Literacies’. The hopeful
dimension of the conference invites a look ahead at literacies destinations: where we are and where we might like to be as a literacy community? Attending to the moment and speculating on the future, what kinds of literacies can we possibly hope for to meet tomorrow’s communicational demands and desires? There is an openness to this call because hopeful literacies must by their very nature be expansive and inclusive of different types of research in a wide range of contexts.
We encourage anyone engaged in literacies and language research in diverse ways (whether PGR, practitioner or academic) to submit an abstract. It will be a friendly, supportive and creative event. The event is supported by the School of Education at the University of Sheffield and the conference fees are £25 for PGR students and £50 for everyone else, including meals and refreshments.
