MESH at the Right to Remain Toolkit Festival

We attended the Right to Remain Toolkit Festival in Bradford this month. Hosted by Beacon in the wonderful Kala Sangam building, it was a day run by Right to Remain, which is a charity that works with communities, groups and organisations across the UK to provide information, resources, training and assistance to help people to establish their right to remain.

10 years ago they developed and shared a Toolkit which provides a step-by-step guide to the UK asylum and immigration system. It is free to use and freely available here.

During the day we were given a comprehensive and very informative tour through the toolkit, plus advice and tips on how to use it to help support those who are currently in the asylum system. The work this group are doing is amazing, and Esther Doherty and her team who ran the day were so knowledgeable and dedicated to the idea of positive change which can be achieved when we gather together and make our voices heard. I fully recommend checking out the toolkit if you work with asylum seekers in your area – knowledge is power!
