A two-part participatory series exploring key information about Sudan. Part 1 – 9th September: You will explore Sudan’s geography, history, society, and cultural norms, both within the country and in neighbouring regions. Part 2 – 10th September: You will focus on the experiences of Sudanese communities in displacement, including challenges and interactions with services both at home and abroad. Both sessions will include case studies and group discussion, so please come ready to engage, with cameras on if possible. Please register separately for both sessions. This is a practical blended course of around 10 hours (3 x 2-hour live online sessions and independent study in between). The course is aimed at new and experienced ESOL teachers. To gain a certificate, participants are expected to complete tasks, reflections and are encouraged to share with peers. A two-day interactive series exploring the rich history, culture, and lived experiences of Vietnamese communities. Part 1 – 14th October: Gain a deeper understanding of Vietnam’s geography, history, core values, social norms, and communication styles. This session will highlight how cultural traditions shape daily life and interactions in Vietnamese society. Part 2 – 15th October: Explore Vietnamese customs and family dynamics, as well as migration history, trafficking concerns, and the experiences of the Vietnamese diaspora in the UK, including access to services and community life. Both sessions are participatory and include case studies and discussion, so we encourage participants to join with cameras on for a more engaging experience.
