The National Conversation is a UK wide listening exercise, designed and run independently by Nuffield College, University of Oxford, to hear directly from people across the country about their experiences of community life.
This is part of the work of the Independent Commission on Community and Cohesion, which is looking at social disconnection and division and what needs to change to help build stronger, more connected communities. The Commission is co-chaired by former Conservative cabinet minister Sir Sajid Javid, and former Labour Policy Coordinator Jon Cruddas, and brings together more than 20 commissioners from politics, academia, business, faith and civil society.
The Commission is running a National Conversation, inviting people to have their say on the type of community they want to live in and on what people feel unites and divides our communities. Over 20,000 people across the country have participated so far and we are encouraging council staff and local residents to take part before the survey closes on 31 August. The insights will be used to inform the Commission’s final report due at the end of the year. Please take the survey here .
