Out and About: Sheffield NHS Careers Fair
We were pleased to be invited to be part of the NHS Careers Education Fair at Sheffield City Hall last Monday, 29th November 2023. It was an event designed to provide information, advice and guidance about careers in the NHS for refugees who have made Sheffield and surrounding areas their home.
What an event! It was attended by over 1500 people, all interested in working in the NHS. The goal of the organisers was that everybody went away with a Next Step, so that wherever they were in their journey to employment they knew what they needed to do next. This really was the buzz – so much hope and positivity in the air.
Our stall was well attended, offering advice about English courses in the area and also other courses that people could access to help gain the qualifications they need. There were many Sheffield course providers there, including SAVTE, FACES and representatives from the Universities, as a complimentary service to the main offer by the NHS, who were showcasing roles and pathways to careers at all levels. The day felt like a real testament to what can be achieved when organisations work together to ensure a good outcome for all.
