MESH Resources – Autumn 2026
Did you know that MESH has produced a series of teaching resources focused on the things that matter for ESOL learners in Yorkshire and the Humber?
Each quarter, we feature a topic in this newsletter, looking at where to find resources on it and how to use them.
With a wide range of resources including videos, interviews, audio files and work sheets, you will be able to find something to support your learners, all focused on Yorkshire and the Humber.
There are two MESH resources with a focus on food and cooking: English, Cooking and Food and Foodbanks and Food Support.
Both of these resources focus on helping ESOL learners understand vocabulary around food and access to it, but with different focuses.
The first, English, Cooking and Food, focuses on recipes, menus and popular Yorkshire food, plus information about entrepreneur Razan Alsous, founder of Yorkshire Dama cheese.
The second, Foodbanks and Food Support, features a video and activities about The Branch Food Share in Huddersfield, and a Slides resource about Community Food Shares and accessing Food Banks.
Each resource includes a slide set for use in the classroom, printable worksheets, a keywords list with audio, and teaching notes.
